The Babbacombe Hotel
The Babbacombe Hotel is set on the seafront, enjoying the fantastic coastline from its bar and restaurant windows. The Babbbacombe Hotel enjoys a level position directly on the sea front overlooking the famous Babbacombe Downs with far reaching views across Lyme Bay, many of the bedrooms have stunning views, private balconies are available with a supplement. All rooms offer en suite accommodation with walk in showers, tea & coffee making facilities and digital flat screen TVs.
The hotel has a lift to most floors.
Day 1 - Monday
Greeted by your taxi drivers, you make the short journey to meet the main coach and tour driver before departing Boston mid-morning. We make the journey south to the Babbacombe Hotel, our base for the week.
Day 2 - Tuesday
Today we travel to Sidmouth along the coast. Explore the little streets, museum, and the sea front, or just sit back and relax and watch the world go by. After lunch we'll visit Exmouth, a lively town, situated on the east coast of Devon where the River Exe meets the sea where we enjoy a cruise and cream tea.
Day 3 - Wednesday
A Day at leisure today in Babbacombe to explore your surroundings. With its own promenade, theatre, shops, and restaurants and of course not forgetting the Babbacombe Model Village - well worth a visit. Take the Babbacombe Cliff Railway, one of only a few original working funicular railways still in existence today. From here you can explore the beaches and the harbour before making your way back to the Cliff Railway and your hotel. Or simply enjoy some relaxation at the hotel.
Day 4 - Thursday
Today we start with a visit to House of Marbles in Bovey Tracey where you can explore the toy & pottery museums or watch a fascinating glass blowing demonstration. We continue through the wild beauty of Dartmoor National Park to the thriving market town of Tavistock.
Day 5 - Friday
This morning, we visit the seaside town of Teignmouth with its Georgian high street. The town beach is a long expanse of sand with a pier, arcades and promenade, whereas the river beach is full of beautiful fishing boats and has a wonderful quaint village feel. This afternoon we visit Dawlish a traditional seaside town, with a wonderful golden sand beach on its doorstep. The town offers a range of amusements and is centred around The Lawn and Brook, which is home to the famous black swans.
Day 6 - Saturday
Morning visit to Buckfast Abbey where you will have an opportunity to explore this fabulous Abbey which is home to a working community of Benedictine monks. We will then board the South Devon Railway for a journey from Buckfastleigh Station to the historic town of Totnes. Upon arrival at Totnes there will be time to wander around this unique and charming town that has an excellent range of small independent retailers and unique shops, as well as plenty of cafés and restaurants.
Day 7 - Sunday
Enjoy Babbacombe, the highest cliff-top promenade in England, offering breathtaking views of the coastline. A great spot to take a stroll and enjoy the scenery or jump on the local bus service to explore the wider area.
Day 8 - Monday
Homeward bound this morning as we leave the hotel, commencing our journey north. Making suitable stops en route, we arrive back in Boston early evening.
