Thursday
With a relaxed departure this morning, your door-to-door service takes away any added stresses as your taken to meet the main coach. We begin the journey into Kent, stopping at the beautiful Suffolk town of Saffron Waldon for a perfectly timed lunch stop. Mid-afternoon we complete the final part of our journey and head to our base for the week, The Bridgewood Manor Hotel, with time to settle into your rooms before your evening meal.
Friday
After a leisurely breakfast we take the short journey to the fascinating Chatham Dockyard, steeped in history you have the day to explore, discover and learn at your leisure. The group will meet at a designated time during the day when you will be greeted by a midwife who will take you on an informative 60-minute location tour. Walk in the footsteps of Nurse Trixie Franklin, Sister Julienne and Dr Turner and explore where the real drama happens. You will be guided through the Historic Dockyard by your very own costumed Midwife, armed with a photograph book and tales of their 'sisters', before being allowed to explore the sets, costumes and props in the all-new, exclusive gallery.
Saturday
Today we visit Canterbury the crown jewel and cultural capital of Kent, a town rich in history and architectural splendour. We start the day at the stunning Gothic Cathedral, with a fabulous, guided tour, the perfect way to discover the Cathedral's amazing history, spaces, and secrets. Also included is entry to the Cathedral Precincts, Gardens and Exhibitions for you to then explore at your leisure.
Sunday
Leeds Castle is a quintessential moated castle set in 500 acres of fairy-tale parkland and formal gardens. Dating back to the 12th century, it has been a Norman stronghold, the royal residence of six medieval queens and was once home to Henry VIII and his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. Latterly, it became an elegant early 20th-century retreat for the influential and the famous. Our visit gives us a chance to explore the castle's impressive state rooms and Gatehouse Exhibition while outside there's plenty to discover, including the Wood Garden and maze.
Monday
Departing the hotel after breakfast we begin our journey back to Lincolnshire, making a lunch stop at Royal Tunbridge Wells famous for its charming 17th century Pantiles. This elegant, covered and colonnaded walkway is now home to enticing independent shops, galleries and open-air cafés., Depart Tunbridge Wells mid-afternoon to complete the final part of your journey back to Lincolnshire to meet your taxis for your door-to-door service.
