A 4-star hotel in Colchester is the ideal place to relax, rest and recharge in an idyllic Constable Country setting. The hotel has an extensive leisure club, including an indoor pool, gym, sauna, steam-room. There is also hotel has a restaurant, bar and lounge. All bedrooms have TV, tea & coffee facilities and hairdryer, the hotel does have a lift.
Monday
You will be greeted by your taxi driver operating your door-to-door service, before making the short journey to meet the main coach. You then begin your journey south, making a lunch stop in Bury St Edmunds, the jem to Suffolks crown. Departing mid-afternoon, we complete our journey to Stoke Nayland with time to settle in before our evening meal.
Tuesday
Spend the morning in Aldeburgh, where pastel-coloured 19th century holiday villas line the prom, creating an attractive backdrop for the pebble beach. This afternoon, wander around the quintessentially English resort of Southwold with its 623m long pier, prominent lighthouse and colourful beach huts behind the large sandy beach.
Wednesday
We begin our day with a visit to Beth Chatto Gardens. Beth Chatto's work at the Gardens began in 1960. She took an overgrown wasteland of brambles, parched gravel and boggy ditches, transforming it using plants adapted by nature to thrive in different conditions. An inspirational, informal garden has developed. Beth continued to oversee the development of the Gardens and worked closely with her team. The Gardens remain a family-run business, managed by Beth's granddaughter, Julia Boulton. Mid-afternoon we travel to Colchester, for some time to explore at your leisure.
Thursday
After breakfast, we discover the idyllic villages of Constable Country on a guided tour. Visiting the birthplace of John Constable, East Bergholt, Flatford where we would take the group on a short, guided tour to see the scenes of several of John Constable's paintings including the site of the famous Haywain and finally Dedham where John Constable went to school. Before concluding our day at the ancient market town set on the River Stour.
Friday
Our departure day, after departing our hotel we make a stop in Lavenham considered Britain's best preserved medieval village with colourful timber framed homes and shops lining the narrow street. Early afternoon we commence our journey back to Lincolnshire and meet your awaiting taxis.
