Peebles Hydro Hotel, Peebles

The Peebles Hydro Hotel. Built in 1878 as a health Spa, the original building was destroyed by fire and subsequently rebuilt in 1907. Today the hotel is part of the Crieff Hydro group and offers excellent facilities including a swimming pool, spa, restaurant, and all the modern-day luxuries you would expect from a hotel of this standard. Enjoy relaxing rooms that offer a flat screen TV, and you can stay connected during your stay as Peebles Hydro offers guests free internet access. Rooms have ensuite facilities, hairdryer and tea & coffee making facilities. The hotel has a lift.

Monday

Collected from home by our door-to-door taxi service, you meet the coach as we depart the local area early morning beginning our journey north. We make suitable comfort breaks en route, arriving at Peebles Hydro, midafternoon with time to settle in and explore the local area.

Tuesday

Enjoy a morning exploring the charming town of Kelso on the River Tweed where you can explore the shops, after lunch why not explore the ruined 11th century Abbey and its links to Robert the Bruce. During the afternoon we have a tour of Abbotsford House, home of Sir Walter Scott. Tour the 17th century interiors and the stunning gardens & grounds.

Wednesday

Today we head to the city of Edinburgh where we have a full day to explore at your own pace. The city is dominated by the magnificent Edinburgh Castle; an ancient fortress built on a volcanic crag. It is the most visited attraction in Scotland. Other attractions include the gardens on Princes Street, the Old Town, The Royal Mile leading to Holyrood House, the Scotch Whisky experience, and much more.

Thursday

Spend the morning at Drumlanrig Castle - a magnificent 'Pink Palace' containing a world class art collection and surrounded by stunning Victorian gardens. Don't miss the 183m Long Terrace Walk and the restored Victorian glasshouses and Rock Garden. Take a scenic drive across the Lowther Hills, via Beattock Summit to spend a wee while in the former spa town of Moffat - a vibrant destination overlooked by the beautiful green Moffat Hills.

Friday

After breakfast we must bid farewell to our hosts and begin our journey back to Lincolnshire. A stop at the famous marriage capital of the UK. Take the opportunity to visit the Gretna Green Famous Blacksmiths Shop. There will be other appropriate stops made during your homeward journey, arriving in Boston late afternoon to meet your onward taxis.
